Background:
During preparation and storage of platelet concentrates, platelets are subjected to a variety of handling techniques, including centrifugation, resuspension. Agitation and rotation. Some type of manipulations are known to be detrimental to
platelet
function. We evaluated metabolic protiles in stored platelet concentrates and that clinical assessment in platelet transfused patients.
Methods:
the platelet counts, MPV PDW, WBC counts, LDH and pH of platelet concentrates were measured. Corrected count increment (CCI) was evaluated from pretransfused and 1 hour posttransfused platelet counts of transfused patients.
Results:
The volume, platelet counts, MPV, PDW, WBC counts, LDH and of platelet concentrates were 44.9¡¾4.3ml, 5.4¡¾1.7¡¿10E10/unit, 7.47¡¾1.03 fl, 17.1¡¾0.6%, 3.0¡¾3.7x10E7/unit, 194¡¾98.7 IU/L and 7.03¡¾0.21, respectively. The in 1hr posttransfusion
was
8798.1¡¾5378.
Conclusions:
The metabolic profiles and clinical assement of platelet concentrates supplied in our hospital are usually satisfy with the expected transfusion effect.
